Volunteer

Looking to get involved? we are now taking on volunteers!

We are a family run Wildlife Park located on the beautiful Great Ocean Road. Our goal is to become fully self sustained and to create a natural humane sanctuary for our animals. Our property is based on 40 acres, which is also home to: kangaroos, emus, wallabies, deer, horses, alpacas, sheep, dingoes, wombat, and of course our pets. We are open to the public 6 days a week and also run a small vegetarian cafe.

Kind of help needed:

As a volunteer, you would be responsible for the daily animal feeding, rake enclosures, help in our vegetable gardens and fruit orchard. You would also help us with projects involving beautifying and maintaining our park as we are always busy creating and expanding.

skills required:

-It is preferable if you have some experience with animals.

-Gardening

-Experience with farm machinery. (welcome, but not necessary)

-Maybe a little hospitality experience (in case we need help in our cafe)

It is also important that you speak English reasonably well, and that you are comfortable with working independently.

Everything you need to know:

We are looking for one or two helpers to stay for a minimum of one month any time throughout the year.

Roughly 6 hours of work a day, 5 days a week in exchange for food and board, and an excellent learning opportunity.

You will be staying in a self sustained cozy cottage with a fireplace overlooking our sanctuary which is home to our kangaroo mob, emus, horses etc :)

We recommend having a car so that in your free time you can explore the beautiful nature this part of Australia has to offer: Twelve Apostles (10 minutes away), Otway rain forest and its beautiful waterfalls and hikes, wild beaches and exquisite flora and fauna. You will have plenty of time to relax and connect with nature on your days off and evenings.

Get in touch:

If you are interested and want more information, feel free to call, or fill out the form and email us and we will get back to you ASAP.

If sending us an email, please include why you want to volunteer, your age, where you're from, your skills, past experiences, level of English, and anything else you would like to tell us about yourself. Don't be shy to ask questions :)
